(ET) Uttar Pradesh power distribution utility has sought Rs 20,940 crore loan from REC Ltd and Power Finance Corp (PFC) under the Atmanirbhar Bharat liquidity infusion package in the power sector. This is the largest loan application made so far by any state distribution company under the scheme. Tamil Nadu has asked the Centre to relax borrowing cap and has shown intent to borrow about Rs 20,622 crore. The power ministry has approached the Cabinet for the relaxations and the matter is likely to be taken up soon. (ET) Coal India’s dues from state- owned power generation companies have risen to Rs 22,000 crore amid muted demand and high production, sources said on Monday. The mining behemoth is also not in a position to regulate supplies to the power companies as demand has remained subdued over the last few months, they said. “Dues are now at Rs 22,000 crore. (PTI) The Railways has set a target of going completely green by becoming a ‘net zero’ carbon emitter by 2030 through various initiatives, including electrification of broad gauge, improving energy efficiency and switching to renewable sources, the national transporter said on Monday. Petronet, India’s biggest gas importer, had on September 21, 2019, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for purchase of up to 5 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Tellurian Inc’s proposed Driftwood LNG terminal for 40 years.
