    OIL Expects To Complete Capping Operation Of Gas Bearing Well In Baghjan, Tinsukia

    Oil India Limited is expecting that it will complete the capping operation of the gas bearing well in Baghjan in Tinsukia district in next couple of days. The gas producing well blew out on May 27 and it more than a month that that the well is still in inferno. It exploded into a massive inferno on June 9. A senior official in OIL, who do not want to be named, “In next couple of days the capping operation will be accomplished. After that we will go for the killing of the well.”

    Oil in a statement stated, “OIL’s Technical teams worked overnight on war-footing to restore severely damaged site condition by repairing/laying Porta Deck Mat and checked/tested/serviced all pumps/equipment/auxiliaries to make them ready for resuming debris removal operation from today morning. Alert and ONGC & OIL’s technical teams are at site and debris removal job has already started. Pump Station, 1 at Dangori River Bank is ready fordelivery, while Pump Station 2 is still submerged in water”.
