(LiveMint) The number of coronavirus patients in India increased by 19,459 in past 24 hours, taking the tally to 5,48,318, according data released by the Union Health Ministry today morning. The data showed 380 persons succumbed to the covid-19 in the last 24 hours as the toll increased to 16,475. The number of active cases stands at 2,10,120, while 3,21,722 people have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 58.67%. (PTI) STATE-OWNED NTPC reported a 71.2% year-on-year (y-o-y) decrease in its standalone net profit to Rs.1,252.4 crore in the three months ended March, as the company decided to settle pending income tax disputes by opting under the government’s recent ‘vivad see vishwas’ scheme. NTPC’s profit before tax was up 23.9%y-o-yto`Rs 4,383.8 crore in the quarter, but net profit was dragged down by the tax expense of Rs 4,983.7 crore. (HT) State-run oil marketing companies raised the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday, a day after there was no hike in rates that were increased continuously for three weeks. Auto fuel prices were not hiked on Sunday for the first time since June 7 when oil marketing companies resumed the daily revision of rates after 82 days. (PTI) State-run Coal India Ltd on Friday reported a 23 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 4,625 crore in the January-March quarter of FY’20. The miner had posted a net profit of Rs 6,026 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal. Its sales during the quarter under review were down by four per cent to Rs 25,597 crore as compared to Rs 26,704 crore registered in the same period of FY19.

(PTI) Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said there is no going back on the decision to privatise the country’s largest oil marketing company BPCL in view of the slump in global energy prices.
