(PTI) The government has moved Delhi High Court to enforce a USD 3.8 billion recovery from Reliance Industries, Shell and ONGC following an English court ruling over its share from the Panna-Mukta and Tafields in western offshore, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said. (PTI) Almost 67 crore litres of ethanol was blended with petrol in 2016-17 which had resulted in foreign exchange saving of about Rs 1,750 crore and lowered while carbon emission, the government said. Replying to queries during the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said surplus and damaged foodgrains would be used to produce ethanol, which will increase its availability for ethanol blended petrol. “In the year 2016-17, as much as 66.5 crore litres of ethanol were blended in petrol which resulted in foreign exchange impact of Rs 1,749 crore while carbon emission was reduced to the extent of 13.23 lakh tonnes,” he said. (ET) India needs an investment of around $76 bn to achieve the balance 103.67 Gigawatt (Gw) of the target of 175 Gw renewable energy capacity by 2020, power and renewable energy minister R K Singh said. (LiveMint) The Parliament approved a legislation to help the government bring back fugitives involved in white-collar crimes to stand trial in India. The fugitive economic offenders bill, 2018 will become law after the President’s assent and will empower the government to seize both local and overseas assets of alleged offenders, such as Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, who chose not to return to India to face the law even after arrest warrants were issued.
