(LiveMint) The spectre of crashing milk prices and farm distress reached Delhi on Tuesday with dairy farmers from Punjab protesting at Jantar Mantar and emptying cans of milk on Parliament Street. The protest, organised by the All India Progressive Dairy Farmers Association, also petitioned the Centre for direct price support, higher export incentives and GST exemption for milk products. (LiveMint) India’s annual infrastructure output grew 6.7% in June from a year ago, government data showed on Tuesday, its fastest pace in seven months. The growth in output compares with an upwardly revised 4.3% year-on-year growth in May. During April-June, the annual output growth was 5.2%, data showed. Infrastructure output, which comprises eight sectors such as coal, crude oil and electricity, accounts for nearly 40% of India’s industrial output.

Subsidized LPG with effect from Tuesday midnight will cost ₹498.02 per cylinder in Delhi as against ₹496.26 currently, a statement issued by Indian Oil Corp., the nation’s largest fuel retailer, said. All LPG consumers have to buy the fuel at market price. (LiveMint) The finance ministry does not plan to increase allocation of funds beyond what has been budgeted to shore up capital buffers of state-run banks as it expects the lenders to resolve some of the bad loans weighing them down, a ministry official said. Most state-controlled banks reported huge losses in the year ended 31 March after the Reserve Bank of India asked them to end all loan restructuring schemes. This increased the pile of bad loans.
