(LiveMint) In an attempt to shield honest bankers from prosecuting agencies, the Parliament on Tuesday amended the Prevention of Corruption Act, accepting a long-standing demand. Consequently, agencies will have to seek prior nod from appropriate authorities before proceeding to arrest a bank official accused of misdemeanor. The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013, amends the archaic Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. As far as biggest defaulters among PSUs are concerned, Southeastern Coalfields is at the top with Rs. 78 crore underspent. It is followed by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) which underspent Rs. 77 crore. (BS) Oil India (OIL) has signed a Joint Venture Agreement at Guwahati on 20 July, 2018 in connection with formation of a JV Company for construction of North-East Gas Grid Pipeline in the eight North-Eastern States, viz.
