The Department of Financial Services (DFS), under the Ministry of Finance, launched a comprehensive three-month nationwide saturation campaign from 1st July to 30th September 2025 to expand the reach of key financial inclusion initiatives. The campaign focuses on promoting flagship schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). With a vision to ensure last-mile connectivity, the campaign aims to achieve 100% coverage across all Gram Panchayats (GPs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the country.
In just two weeks since its commencement on 1st July, a remarkable 43,447 enrolment and awareness camps have been held across districts, reflecting the momentum and widespread participation. Progress reports have already been compiled for 31,305 of these camps, showcasing significant achievements in account activations, social security enrolments, and financial literacy outreach.
Key Milestones and Activities
Bank Account Outreach:
A core component of the campaign is the expansion and strengthening of banking access under PMJDY. So far, 1,39,291 new Jan Dhan accounts have been opened. In addition, inactive accounts have been revitalized through Know Your Customer (KYC) re-verification processes, with 96,383 PMJDY accounts and 1,01,778 other savings accounts updated. Nomination details, a vital aspect of account security and succession planning, were also updated in 66,494 PMJDY accounts and 63,489 other savings accounts.
Social Security Scheme Enrolments:
A major highlight has been the large-scale enrolment under the Government’s low-cost insurance and pension schemes. So far, 1,83,225 individuals have enrolled under PMJJBY, which provides life insurance coverage, while 2,88,714 people have subscribed to PMSBY, offering accidental insurance benefits. The Atal Pension Yojana, aimed at securing post-retirement income, has recorded 67,668 new subscribers. Additionally, 1,665 claims under PMJJBY and PMSBY have been settled, providing timely financial relief to beneficiaries.
Financial Literacy Drives:
The campaign also emphasizes educating citizens on critical aspects of financial security. Dedicated sessions are being conducted to raise awareness about digital fraud prevention, access to unclaimed deposits, and available grievance redressal mechanisms. These efforts are aimed at building a financially aware and empowered citizenry.
Held in locations like Balod Gram Panchayat in Chhattisgarh and Karbi Anglong in Assam, the campaign is reaching some of the most remote and underserved regions, ensuring no eligible citizen is left behind.
With a target to cover approximately 2.70 lakh GPs and ULBs by the end of September, the campaign stands as a testament to the Government’s mission of inclusive growth through financial empowerment. It strengthens the foundation of equitable access to formal financial services, ensuring that the benefits of economic development reach every household, particularly among marginalized and unbanked communities.
The ongoing saturation campaign not only highlights the scale of outreach but also reflects the Government of India’s unwavering commitment to building a financially inclusive and resilient economy.
