Veteran actor James Handy, known for his appearances in films and television shows spanning several decades, was found dead at his California residence on Wednesday. The 81-year-old actor reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities and his representatives.
Handy’s talent agent, Pam Ellis-Evenas, confirmed his death in a statement, expressing sadness over the loss of the respected actor. Law enforcement officials have launched a homicide investigation into the incident, which occurred at Handy’s home in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an emergency at the residence. Authorities said the caller allegedly made a statement indicating involvement in the killing. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who was taken into custody without incident.
Police identified Gledhill as the son of Handy’s girlfriend and stated that he lived at the same residence. Investigators later arrested him on suspicion of murder and transferred him to the Van Nuys Jail, where formal charges were filed. Authorities have not yet disclosed a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Following the incident, police secured the area surrounding the home and conducted extensive inquiries in the neighborhood. Investigators reportedly canvassed nearby residences and interviewed potential witnesses as part of their efforts to gather information related to the case.
