(PTI) India’s Auto LPG industry has sought a reduction in the goods and services tax (GST) rates on LPG conversion kits for automobiles from the current 28 per cent to five per cent to boost vehicle conversions to the environment-friendly fuel. Indian Auto LPG Coalition, the apex industry body for auto LPG in India, said that high GST rates were hampering conversion to LPG, which is much cleaner transport fuel as compared to petrol. (BS) The push for clean energy through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has led to a record 40.7 million new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) connections being added in the current fiscal year (2018-19, or FY19). This is a jump of 45 per cent over 2017-18 (FY18). He said that ONGC Tripura has recorded its highest ever production at 4.96 MMSCMD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter Per Day) . “Not only 5 MMSCMD but we can produce 10 MMCMD from here for the upcoming 15-20 years,” said Dharmendra Pradhan. “We will try that in 2019 itself none of the poor households in Tripura is without an LPG connection,” said Pradhan. “The ONCG will fulfil all the energy requirement of the state with regard to power plants, domestic industries, transportation and domestic fuel,” said Pradhan.
