Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the vehicle scrapping policy will encourage fuel efficiency, reduce vehicular pollution and oil import bills. Private vehicles that are over 20 years old and public vehicles that are over 15 years old could undergo fitness tests at automated fitness centres to check their eligibility for scrapping. Presenting the Union Budget for 2021-22, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government will capitalise the DFI with ₹24,000 crore, allowing it to leverage debt of up to ₹5 lakh crore to provide much-needed financing to the capital-starved sector. (PTI) Infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on says it has receives an up to Rs 2,500-crore contract for Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor project. “The heavy civil infrastructure business of L&T Construction has secure a significant contract from two packages of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor,” L&T said in a regulatory filing.
