(PTI) Despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic slowdown, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set a record by producing 92 million tonnes of crude steel production on March 21, officials said. Since the very beginning, RSP under the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has functioned with a three-pronged strategy – strengthening the nation with the might of steel, supporting the economy and steering progress in the entire region, said Dipak Chattaraj, CEO, RSP. He also congratulated all the stakeholders on RSP crossing this milestone.

(ET) India’s oil minister said African nations could play a central role as the world’s third biggest oil importer seeks to diversify its sources of oil and gas imports. “As India seeks to further diversify sourcing of crude oil and LNG, Africa has a central role – largely due to its proximity and absence of any choke points in trans-shipments,” Dharmendra Pradhan told an industry summit. He said Africa’s share of India’s oil import basket was about 15%.
(ET) In the first reduction in rates in over a year, petrol price on Wednesday was cut by 18 paise per litre and diesel by 17 paise a litre as international oil prices tumbled to the lowest since early February. Petrol price was cut to Rs 90.99 a litre in Delhi from Rs 91.17 per litre, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. (PTI) India recorded 40,715 coronavirus cases in a day, taking the nationwide infection tally to 1,16,86,796, while the active caseload at 3,45,377 registered an increase for the 13th day in a row, the Union health ministry said on Tuesday. The active caseload now comprises 2.96 per cent of the total infections, while the recovery rate has further dropped to 95.67 per cent, the ministry data updated at 8 am stated. In a major move to improve commuters’ experience on National Highways for both, passengers and truckers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop world class ‘Wayside Amenities’ at more than 600 locations across 22 states along the National Highways in the next five years. Out of these, 130 are targeted for development in 2021-22. NHAI has already invited bids to develop 120 such wayside amenities. As per plan, wayside amenities will be developed every 30-50 km along the current and upcoming Highways and Expressways. The National Policy on Biofuels – 2018 inter-alia allows the use of surplus food grains for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of National Biofuel Coordination Committee (NBCC). The NBCC in its meeting held on 20.04.2020 and 09.11.2020 has allowed the production of ethanol from surplus rice available with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and maize respectively for blending with petrol under Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme.
