Residents of Delhi are voting today to elect 272 members of the three civic bodies — South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC). According to the Delhi State Election Commission, adequate security arrangement has been made for the polls. The run-up to the civic body polls in Delhi was marked by a heated campaign by contending parties — BJP, AAP and Congress. Some other parties like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (united), Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India, Shiv Sena, BSP and a number of independent candidates are also in the fray to challenge the major parties.
