Brandishing India’s over 7 per cent economic growth and the Union government’s focus to ensure that the country is on the path to soon become the third largest economy in the world, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu invited Botswana and its companies to partner with India while inaugurating an international business convention, the 14th Global Expo in Botswana’s capital.

The expo has seen participation of 25 Indian companies. India is slated to become a five-trillion dollar economy by 2025, Naidu said. He highlighted India’s longstanding relationship with Botswana at the Global Expo, appreciating that the country provides “ample business opportunities to Indian investors”. He also stressed on the economic and political stability in the country, making it the fastest growing economy in the southern African region.

India commends, Naidu added, Botswana’s significant role in integrating its regional partners and promoting inclusive growth for Africa. Specifically about India’s business ties with Botswana, Naidu said that it has seen a continued growth. “Our bilateral trade is valued at USD 1.75 billion in 2017-18. It is impressive to note that our trade has increased by 26 per cent during 2017-18.”
