Union minister for new and renewable energy, consumer affairs, food and public distribution Pralhad Joshi inaugurated a 1.3 GWp (gigawatt peak) solar project built using 100% Made-in-India modular technology in Pokhran, Jaisalmer. “This marks a historic achievement for India, especially for Rajasthan.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Rajasthan has become the epicentre of India’s renewable energy revolution. This solar site, built entirely with Made-in-India modules and having nearly 1.3 GWp capacity, stands as a shining example of India’s journey towards self-reliance—90% of the modules were manufactured in Rajasthan itself,” Joshi said. “This is the largest solar energy plant of its kind, showing that Rajasthan is not only harnessing solar power efficiently but also redefining India’s energy landscape.”

The minister further stated that the cost of electricity generation today is among the lowest in the world, at just ₹2.18 per unit, a significant drop compared to previous rates. “A revolution has taken place in the solar energy sector,” he said.
