Irrigation and Public Health Minister Mahender Singh Thakur on Saturday ordered the suspension of the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Municipal Corporation for negligence in water distribution in Shimla. He said the government would not tolerate any laxity on part of officials and strict action would be taken against those found guilty. Residents have also been demanding resignation of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the MC Commissioner.Even as water is being supplied once in four days, residents have complained of inequitable distribution. People in some localities are either getting water in trickles or not getting it at all.Residents resorted to road blockades and protests at Kasumpti, Mehli, Jiwanu colony and Panthaghati with empty vessels, alleging water was being supplied in abundance to some areas, while other localities were facing shortage.
