Political Row Erupts After Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Satluj’ Removed from OTT Platform

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s film Satluj, based on the life of an activist during Punjab’s turbulent 1990s, has sparked a political controversy after being removed from the OTT platform shortly after its release. The film premiered uncut on ZEE5 on Friday following a delay of over three years in obtaining censor clearance but was taken down on Sunday.

Reacting to the move, Dosanjh urged audiences to watch the film “wherever and however they can,” while ZEE5 appealed to viewers not to encourage piracy. The removal drew sharp criticism from the Shiromani Akali Dal, Indian National Congress, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, all of whom called for the film’s release and said Punjab should not shy away from confronting its history.
