Fuel prices are up again after a day’s pause. According to the latest price notification, petrol and diesel prices have been increased by 80 paise, taking the overall increase to 7.20 per litre. In Delhi, petrol has already breached the Rs 100 mark and is now selling at Rs 102.61 per litre. Diesel will cost you Rs 93.87 a litre respectively (increased by 80 paise) In Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices a litre are at Rs 117.57 & Rs 101.79 (increased by 85 paise). In Chennai, the petrol & diesel prices per litre at Rs 108.21 and Rs 108.21 (increased by 76 paise) and in Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 112.19 (increased by 84 paise) and diesel is Rs 97.02 (increased by 80 paise).
Rates are expected to rise further as oil prices in the international market are elevated and volatile.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had defended the 137-day hiatus in fuel price revision, saying the disruption in supply chains and the resultant increase in global oil prices due to the war in Ukraine was a “couple of weeks” phenomenon. Sitharaman said the government is taking various steps in response to the rise in global oil prices.
