Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal on Sunday invited Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal president Naveen Patnaik to form the next government in the State. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held on May 29 at the Exhibition Ground here. Set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister for a record fifth consecutive term, Mr. Patnaik met the Governor and staked claim to form the government after being elected the leader of the BJD legislature party.

Earlier, Mr. Patnaik was chosen as the leader by the newly elected MLAs at a meeting at the party headquarters here. Mr. Patnaik later told journalists that the new government would work hard for the State’s development. He also met the newly elected BJD MPs separately and asked them to forcefully push for the demand for a special category status for the State.
