Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP&NG) Saturday highlighted about Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) during a meeting in the conference hall of Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung.
Under the new scheme which is to be launched shortly, a female member of the household can avail LPG connection free of cost. BPL households who don’t have LPG connection can avail the scheme, however, the female member should have a bank account and adhaar linked to the bank, informed the officials.
The subsequent refills for empty cylinders will also be given at subsidized rates. The main aim of the scheme is to discourage use of firewood as fuel and to save the environment, explained the officials from Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Calling upon the gathering to help spread awareness about the scheme to other parts of the district, the officials requested all to respond actively for successful implementation of PMUY in the district. The officials at the meeting included Bikram Ghosh, District Nodal Officer (Mokokchung & Tuensang districts), Ajit Sinha, IOC LPG Officer, S.B. Paul Ray, GM Oil India Ltd. and S.N Singh, GM Oil India Ltd. Representatives from all ward union of Mokokchung town also attended the meeting besides representatives from LPG distributors and oil depots of Mokokchung.
