Recent Kasauli shootout was a blot on the functioning of state police and efforts should be made to ensure that such incidences do not occur in the future, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over a review meeting of Home Department here on Tuesday.The Chief Minister said the state police should launch special awareness campaign regarding drug abuse, violations of Motor Vehicle Act and safety of women, helmets for two wheelers etc and come down heavily on drunken driving.He said black spots should be identified and rectified at the earliest. Effective working of women police stations should be ensured and opportunity of counseling for matrimonial disputes should be provided in a best possible way.The Chief Minister said that upholding rule of law and safeguarding the life and property was the first priority of police. He said that police force should serve the community in a non partisan, ethical and lawful manner to win over the confidence of the masses at large.
