The Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP today termed the Centre’s decision to lay an LPG pipeline from Kandla (in Gujarat) to Gorakhpur as “revolutionary”. Speaking at a function yesterday, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that all the LPG bottling plants established in Uttar Pradesh (25 at present, 4-5 being installed) would be linked to this pipeline.

“LPG has proved to be not only a fuel, but a medium of social change. The decision of laying an LPG pipeline from Kandla (in Gujarat) to Gorakhpur is truly revolutionary,” said UP BJP spokesperson Manish Shukla, here today. Shukla said the Ujjwala Yojana – which was launched on May 1, 2016, from Ballia, had helped women of poor families the most. “The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has benefitted a large number of women.

They are leading a smoke-free life. In the last six months of the BJP government in the state, the government has come up with a number of welfare measures for the people of the state,” said Shukla. According to the Centre, the number of LPG connections in UP has gone up from 1.14 crore to 2.88 crore after the launch of the PM Ujjwala Yojana.
