Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a meeting in Mathura to garner support for actress Hema Malini, the BJP’s candidate from the Lok Sabha constituency, and hit out at the Opposition parties, urging people “not to waste votes on them”.

Adityanath also alluded to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute. “Humne Kashi, Ayodhya ka kaam pura kar liya hai…ab hume pura focus Brij Bhoomi par karna hai. Dikatte ayengi nyalaya aur doosri jagah se bhi, lekin ant mein jeet hamari hogi (We have completed our tasks in Kashi and Ayodhya and now our total focus will be on the Brij region. We will face legal and other hurdles on our path but we believe that in the end, we will win),” Adityanath said.

He also urged people not to waste their votes on Opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress. “When the SP, BSP or Congress parties cannot ensure development, cannot ensure security and are not in a position to ensure the welfare of our poor then why should the nation bear their weight? When we have no hope from these parties, do not waste votes on them,” Adityanath said.

Adityanath, who launched a series of ‘Prabhudh Sammelan’ meetings from Mathura on March 27, was in the town on Thursday to support Hema Malini, who filed her nomination papers seeking a third successive term as MP.
