External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar paid tribute to United Nations peacekeepers serving across the globe on the occasion of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers. Recognizing their vital contribution to global stability, he praised the dedication and courage of the men and women deployed under UN peacekeeping missions in some of the world’s most challenging regions.

In a message shared on social media, Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged the unwavering commitment of UN peacekeepers to maintaining international peace and security. He highlighted the significant role they play in conflict zones, where their efforts help protect civilians, support political processes, and foster conditions for lasting peace.

The Minister commended the bravery and professionalism of peacekeepers who continue to work under difficult and often dangerous circumstances. He noted that their service makes a meaningful difference in communities affected by conflict and instability, helping to create opportunities for recovery and development.

Marking the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, Dr. Jaishankar also reiterated the global message of “Invest in Peace,” emphasizing the importance of sustained efforts and cooperation to build a more secure and stable world. The theme underscores the need for nations to support peacebuilding initiatives and strengthen mechanisms that prevent conflict.

India has a long and distinguished history of contributing personnel to United Nations peacekeeping operations and remains one of the largest contributors to such missions. Indian peacekeepers have served in numerous conflict-affected regions, earning international recognition for their professionalism and commitment to humanitarian values.

The tribute reflects India’s continued support for UN peacekeeping efforts and its commitment to promoting peace, security, and international cooperation. The International Day of UN Peacekeepers is observed annually to honor those who serve in peacekeeping missions and to remember those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.
