India reported 36,401 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally to 3,23,22,258 according to Union health ministry data updated on Thursday. The death toll has climbed to 4,33,049 with 530 more fatalities.
India’s recovery rate has improved to 97.52%, which is the highest since March last year, according to the data. The ministry said that active cases have declined to 3,64,129, the lowest in 149 days, and comprise 1.13% of total infections, the lowest since March last year.
The active Covid-19 caseload has reduced by 3,286 cases in a span of 24 hours, while 18,73,757 tests were conducted on Wednesday. This brings the total tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 50,03,00,840. Daily positivity rate has been recorded at 1.94% and has stayed below the 3% mark for the last 24 days. The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 1.95% which has been below three per cent for the last 55 days, according to the ministry.
