Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced here today that the Congress would intensify its campaign in the state, post Makar Sankranti festival, to press government to redress people’s grievances.“All sections of the people are reeling under various problems, but the government in the state appears to be oblivious. The Congress has been raising the issues, but the government has adopted a negative approach,” Rawat said.Rawat had hosted a public lunch with regard the coming Makar Sankranti festival. On the occasion he said the Congress had been compelled to step up its agitation and fan out among the masses to instill confidence among them.

He alleged that the government had not enunciated welfare policies. It had either abandoned or is weakening the policies started by the previous government which was headed by him. He cited the scheme of providing monetary help to poor girls under Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme.Rawat said employment generation avenues had dried up and agriculture and farming community was in distress. Development of the state had come to a standstill.
