The e-commerce industry, which is gearing up to provide a better shopping experience to customers in the upcoming festive season, is expected to create seven lakh temporary jobs in the second half of 2023. This has been estimated in a report. TeamLease Services, a recruitment company for its customers, made this estimate in a report released on Tuesday. According to the report, e-commerce companies in the country are hiring temporary employees to stay ahead of their competitors in view of the upcoming festive season. This is likely to create about seven lakh temporary jobs in the second half.

    Possibility of 25 percent increase

The company said that this year, recruitment in the festive season is likely to increase by 25 percent compared to last year. The process of recruitment for the festive season has started from July. The demand for temporary personnel has been steadily increasing during the festive season. This is seen not only in metros like Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai but also in relatively smaller cities like Vadodara, Pune and Coimbatore. “In the last five years, we have seen a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in demand for temporary workers . This trend is likely to continue for the next two-three years. ”

    What does this report say??

According to a survey titled ‘The Job Search Process: A Look from the Inside Out’, two-thirds of the respondents preferred a mix of arrangements or remote working. Of these, 71 per cent believe that they preferred the freedom to work from home, flexibility in working hours and the convenience of taking breaks as needed while searching for a job. The survey, conducted by employment website Indeed India, interviewed a total of 1,810 individuals, including 561 employers and 1,249 job seekers. In the survey, 63 per cent of job seekers preferred the convenience of working from home and office, while 51 per cent of the companies also offered such flexibility in their operations.
