Taapsee Pannu takes on the role of a determined mother in the trailer of Gandhari, an upcoming action thriller set to premiere on Netflix on September 3.
The two-minute-25-second trailer opens with Taapsee travelling by train with her daughter, Mishty. Their journey takes a horrifying turn when the young girl is abducted. As Taapsee attempts to find her daughter, an accident leaves her blind, adding another layer of difficulty to her desperate search.
Despite the setback, her character refuses to give up. The trailer follows her relentless mission to locate and rescue Mishty, with the story taking her into the world of the Bohurupis, travelling performers known for adopting different disguises. Her journey soon becomes a fight for survival, revenge and redemption.
The trailer offers glimpses of Taapsee in intense action sequences as she battles those standing between her and her daughter. Swastika Mukherjee, Ishwak Singh and Mita Vashisht also feature in the trailer, while Chhaya Kadam and Jatin Sarna are part of the film’s ensemble cast.
Directed by Devashish Makhija, Gandhari is written and produced by Kanika Dhillon under the banner of Kathha Pictures. The film explores a mother’s determination to find her kidnapped child while dealing with themes of revenge and redemption.
Gandhari also marks another collaboration between Taapsee and Dhillon. The duo previously worked together on Haseen Dillruba (2021) and its sequel, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, which premiered on Netflix in August 2024.
For Makhija, the film follows Joram, his acclaimed drama starring Manoj Bajpayee. Taapsee was last seen in Anubhav Sinha’s courtroom drama Assi, which is currently streaming on ZEE5.
With its dark setting, emotional stakes and action-heavy storyline, Gandhari promises to present Taapsee in a fierce new avatar when it arrives on Netflix on September 3.
