Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the upcoming NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The meeting was held in the presence of former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, who currently heads the High Powered Steering Committee formed to oversee the implementation of reforms and recommendations related to the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The review meeting focused on strengthening examination security, improving surveillance systems, and ensuring the smooth and transparent conduct of the national-level medical entrance examination. Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the Secretary of Higher Education, the Director General of the NTA, and other key representatives attended the meeting.

During the discussion, the Director General of the NTA presented details about the additional security measures being introduced for the re-examination. These include a comprehensive review of existing surveillance mechanisms and plans to further enhance monitoring at examination centres across the country.

The meeting comes amid continued efforts by the government to restore confidence in the examination process and improve operational efficiency within the NTA. Authorities discussed measures aimed at preventing malpractice, ensuring strict supervision, and strengthening accountability throughout the examination system.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that maintaining examination security remains the government’s top priority. At the same time, he stressed the importance of creating a student-friendly environment at examination centres to ensure candidates face minimal inconvenience on exam day.

Pradhan directed officials to ensure adequate facilities, smooth coordination, and proper arrangements at all centres nationwide. The government also reiterated its commitment to conducting fair, transparent, and efficient examinations while implementing long-term reforms within the NTA framework.

The review meeting underlined the Centre’s continued focus on improving examination management and strengthening trust among students and parents regarding the NEET-UG examination process.
