Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh was removed from JDU executive, party’s president Lalan Singh told reason

Janata Dal United (JDU) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh “Lalan” accused Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh of not attending party meetings “under the prime minister’s instructions”. Lallan’s allegation came a day after the JD(U) formed its national executive, which names around 100 members, including all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs except Harivansh.

“Harivansh has not attended all party meetings since we left the NDA on August 9 last year. Not only that, they have stopped coming to the parliamentary party meeting, which we hold every Wednesday during the session of the House. ”

“It is possible that Harivansh was asked by none other than the Prime Minister not to attend JD(U) meetings. He also rejected arguments that journalist-turned-politician Harivansh may have stayed away from party meetings as he holds a constitutional post. “Before August 9, 2022, he always attended party meetings. ”

Harivansh, who is serving his second consecutive term in the Rajya Sabha, became deputy chairman in 2018. “Maybe, he is now acting as per the instructions of the Prime Minister, who may have asked him to stay away from party meetings,” Lalan said. Technically, he can’t exit the JD(U) right now. ”

Harivansh, once a jd(U) supreme leader and a confidant of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has been facing criticism from the party for taking steps like attending the inauguration of the new Parliament building despite the opposition’s boycott. Meanwhile, Bihar BJP spokesperson Nikhil Anand issued a statement accusing Lalan of “unnecessarily dragging the name of the Prime Minister” and “becoming the spokesperson of alliance partner RJD and its leaders Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav”.

“The JD(U) is on the verge of disintegration. But people like Lalan Singh are not worried. He is insulting an intellectual like Harivansh in a way that reminds us of the shoddy treatment meted out to stalwarts like George Fernandes, Sharad Yadav and R C P Singh. “
