Production of crude oil in Assam in October 2023 has marked a significant increase when compared to the production figures of October 2022. This was revealed in a recent report by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (Infrastructure and Project Monitoring Division) titled ‘Review of Infrastructure Sector Performance, October 2023’.
The report was concerned, among others, with the production of crude oil by Oil India Limited (OIL) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the state. In the month of October 2023, OIL produced 281.53 thousand metric tonnes and ONGC produced 88.69 thousand metric tonnes. The cumulative production of crude oil by OIL and ONGC in October 2023 was 370.22 thousand metric tonnes.
For comparison with last year’s production figures, the report mentions that in October 2022, while OIL produced 262.63 thousand metric tonnes, ONGC produced 85.49 thousand metric tonnes. The cumulative production in October 2022 was 348.12 thousand metric tonnes. This showed that the production of crude in October 2023 increased by 22.1 thousand metric tonnes when compared to the production figures for October 2022.
