From 2011-12 to 2014-15, it was ₹ 67,594. “The average per capita NNI (net national income) in the country during 2011-12 to 2014-15 is estimated at ₹ 67,594 whereas average per capita NNI in the country during 2014-15 to 2017-18 is estimated at ₹ 79,882,” MoS (statistics) Vijay Goel said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. In the first round of bidding for Discovered Small Fields (DSF) last year, 134 bids were received for 34 blocks out of 46 on offer. The discussions come against the backdrop of a failed effort to privatise the loss-making airline, which continues to grapple with financial woes. (FE) The government said that it has detected over 1,200 cases of tax evasion in the goods and services tax (GST) regime, which amount to nearly Rs 3,000 crore. These cases belong to the July 2017-June 2018 period. “Nature of cases include misuse of input tax credit, mis-declaration in the GST returns, tax declared in GST returns and not paid, and cases where GST returns not filed and tax not paid,” the finance ministry said in response to a question in Rajya Sabha. (BS) The government raised import duties on 328 textile products by up to 20 per cent in the fourth such instance of higher tariffs being placed on inbound goods in 2018. India had raised basic Customs duties on 43 broad categories of goods, including electronics, in this year’s Budget. Last month, apart from announcing higher safeguard duties on solar cells imported from China and Malaysia, it had also raised import tariffs on 76 textile products, including jackets, suits, and carpets, to 20 per cent.
