(TNIE) Revenue Minister Sudam Marndi on Wednesday assured the people of taking expeditious steps for construction of new bridges to ensure all-weather connectivity across the district. Reviewing the post-flood situation here, the Minister said the State Government would approach the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to submit detailed project report (DPR) of the new bridge projects at the earliest. The projects are aimed at checking submergence of the low-lying bridges during rains which results in frequent disruption of communication. (LiveMint) The Union government will enrol around 150 million workers over the next three years under its flagship pension scheme Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM), bringing more informal sector workers under the social security net. Labour secretary Hiralal Samariya said the pension scheme will benefit a large pool of people who earn less, but form a large part of the labour market. The secretary said a sizable portion of beneficiaries will be construction workers. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is targeting the bottom of the pyramid through various policy interventions, realising that they are a significant political constituency.

(ET) Finance secretary Rajiv Kumar is expected to be the new government representative in the committee set up to review the Reserve Bank of India’s economic capital framework, replacing former economic affairs secretary Subhash Chandra Garg who was transferred to the power ministry in a bureaucratic shuffle last week. The bill now advocates for stricter laws for corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending by corporates. After the amendment, violation of the CSR rules could land company officials in jail for up to 3 years. Companies violating the rules will face a penalty of Rs 50,000 to Rs 25 lakh . Companies will have to give details about the spending of money and they have been given a three-year window to adhere.
