(ET) French energy company Engie has agreed to sell 74 per cent stake in its solar business in India to Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus, an alternative investment fund of financial services firm Edelweiss Group. EIYP and Sekura Energy Ltd, a portfolio company of EIYP, will pick up stake in 13 solar assets of Engie aggregating 813 MW, the French company said in a release on Thursday.It did not reveal the deal size but said it “will allow Engie to reduce its debt by more than €400 million”.It said the transaction is expected to be completed, “subject to the usual conditions associated with this type of operation”, in…

(ET) At a time when India leads in pollution-linked deaths, the country’s ceramic hub at Morbi in Gujarat has emerged as a striking example of how switching to natural gas from polluting fuels in industry can help eliminate air and environmental pollution. A latest report by International Gas Union (IGU), headquartered in Barcelona, titled ‘Case studies in improving urban air quality – 2019’, highlights the success story of Morbi in creating a gas-based economy. This is the fourth edition of the Clean Air Report series by the IGU. Apart from Morbi, there are six other case studies, including London in UK and Bogota, Colombia.

(ET) Oil and gas production by state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd (OIL) suffered a hit in December 2019 owing to the ongoing protests over Citizen Amendment Act apart from technical issues, fresh data published by the oil ministry’s statistical arm Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) showed. The country’s total crude oil production in December dropped 7.37 per cent to 2,651 Thousand Tonne (TMT), pushing import dependence to a historic high of 86.9 per cent in the month. Indian Oil and National Petroleum Authority of Ghana signed an initial agreement in the presence of Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday that would set-off cooperation between the two countries on increasing cooking gas penetration in the African nation.
