(PTI) Trade unions on Wednesday urged Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to reconsider the proposed privatisation of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). In a joint letter to Pradhan, the unions said, “The joint platform of central trade unions and federations urges upon you to please seriously reconsider and refrain from such move of privatization of BPCL in the interests of the nation.” It said despite opposition by trade unions and BPCL employee unions, the government is going ahead with the public sector firm’s privatisation. (PTI) Gujarat has topped the Niti Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2020 followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, according to the government think tank’s report released on Wednesday. Speaking at the launch of the report Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said rapid growth of exports is a crucial component for long-term economic growth. (ET) State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), which is set to be privatised, has resumed work on 2,118 projects worth an estimated investment of Rs 50,300 crore, the company said in a statement on Wednesday, a day after oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed projects of state-run oil and gas companies. The company has set a capex (capital expenditure) target of Rs 9,597 crore in 2020-21 and has spent Rs 1,650 crore till August 15, Rs 380 crore payout as labour cost. (PTI) State-owned oil firms plan to spend about Rs 1.2 lakh crore in the fiscal year to March 2021 on oil and gas exploration and production and refineries in a bid to boost economic activity in the nation that has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. (PTI) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) said its board will meet on September 1 to consider raising funds of up to Rs 45,000 crore. The board will also consider and approve the company’s financial results for the June quarter on the said date, ONGC said in a BSE filing. It will consider raising of funds “by way of availing Bank loan(s) and/ or issue of debt instruments (including bonds, NCDs and notes) in domestic and/or overseas market including drawdown(s) under Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programs not exceeding Rs 35,000 crore,” it said.

(PTI) State-owned Coal India on Monday said Yatinder Prasad, joint secretary and financial advisor with the Ministry of Coal, has been appointed on its board. Prasad is a 1993-batch Indian Audit and Accounts Service officer, Coal India Ltd (CIL) said in a BSE filing. “Yatinder Prasad, JS&FA, Ministry of Coal has been appointed as government nominee Director in CIL Board w.e.f August 24, 2020,” the filing said. She is also joint secretary and financial advisor (JS&FA) for the ministries of tribal affairs and mines.
