(PTI) State-run engineering firm BHEL on Friday said it has bagged its maiden order for battery energy storage systems from TERI. However, the company did not divulge details about the value of the order. “Amidst stiff competitive bidding, BHEL has won its first commercial order for state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage Systems from The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI),” BHEL said in a statement. (ET) A spate of the novel coronavirus infections aboard western offshore installations has forced ONGC to evacuate crew members from two of the four hired rigs and has forced the state-run explorer to put additional checks to prevent contractors from compromising on the company’s stringent protocols to cut down on costs. Sources said ONGC stopped the operation of ‘Greatship Chitra’ and ordered evacuation after 16 crew members tested positive more than a week ago. ‘Greatship Charu’ was the next to face shutdown, sources added. (ET) The government is likely to increase ethanol price that oil companies pay to sugar mills for buying ethanol extracted from molasses. It aims to encourage mills to divert excess cane and sugar to ethanol production to improve their liquidity and be able to pay cane arrears that rose to Rs 20,000 crore in July. “Ethanol price will be hiked but only after increasing the minimum selling price of sugar. The fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane has already been increased by Rs 10 a quintal to Rs 285 a quintal,” said a senior food ministry official. (ET) India’s crude oil imports fell in July to their lowest since March 2010 as fuel demand slowed amid renewed coronavirus-induced lockdowns and closures of refinery units for maintenance, government data showed on Thursday. Crude oil imports last month slumped about 36.4 per cent from a year earlier to 12.34 million tonnes, or 2.92 million barrels per day, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas showed.
