Briefing the media after the meeting, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) will suggest an e-bidding platform for users.He noted that producers will have a choice to opt for a platform and transparent and open bidding process to be conducted for price discovery.
(ET) In a big boost for Reliance Industries Ltd, Cairn India and state-run ONGC, the government on Wednesday approved an electronic auction-based gas marketing regime that allows affiliates of domestic producers to bid for output from new discoveries of the parent company. (ET) Markets regulator Sebi on Monday revamped the product labelling on mutual fund schemes under the risk-o-meter by introducing “very high risk” category to warn investors. The existing five categories to measure risks are – low, low to moderate, moderate, moderately high, and high. (ET) The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council was deadlocked on the issue of compensation to be paid to states on account of the shortfall stemming from the transition to the levy in 2017. It however decided to extend the compensation cess beyond 2022—the five-year period that had been agreed originally. The council will meet again on October 12 to discuss the issue. (ET) The government proposes to implement a new floor price mechanism for gas produced from domestic fields by companies such as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to prevent the fuel price from crashing below an identified threshold in current subdued market conditions. Domestic gas price has fallen to $1.79 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) for the October-March period of the current fiscal. The government named Shashanka Bhide, Ashima Goyal and Jayanth Varma as its nominees on the central bank’s monetary policy committee (MPC) late on Monday. The Reserve Bank of India was forced to delay the bi-monthly committee meeting set to take place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, as it required at least four MPC members to proceed.
(PTI) The daily spike in coronavirus infections dropped below 65,000 on Tuesday and the total recoveries surpassed 56 lakh pushing the recovery rate to 84.70 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry. However, the COVID-19 caseload rose to 66,85,082 with 61,267 new infections, the data updated at 8 am showed. The death toll climbed to 1,03,569 with 884 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours, the data showed. The total recoveries have surged to 56,62,490 while there are 9,19,023 active cases of the coronavirus in the country which comprises 13.75 per cent of the total caseload.…
(ET) Power engineers started work boycott on Monday in protest against the state government’s plan to privatize Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL). Engineers at distribution and transmission substations and those at power generation plants were exempted from the agitation. President of Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, Shailendra Dubey, said: “The association has demanded intervention of CM Yogi Adityanath so that further confrontation between the management and engineers can be avoided.” Dubey said they would continue to maintain communication with energy minister Shrikant Sharma to defuse the crisis.UPPCL management is misguiding the government over losses incurred in Purvanchal distribution company,” Dubey said.
