(BS) Domestic crude oil production has been in decline since the financial year 2014-15 (FY15), dropping to just 28.4 million tonnes (MT) in FY22, the lowest since FY94. The production in 2021-22 represented a decline of 11.8 per cent from 32.2 MT in FY95, increasing the economy’s vulnerability due to skyrocketing global oil prices. The demand for crude oil has, however, increased over those years. As a result, imports of petroleum products rose to 212 MT in FY22, 676.5 per cent higher than the 27.3 MT imported in FY95.

(PTI) Capital markets regulator Sebi imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on India Infoline Ltd (IIFL) for alleged misutilisation of client securities. The amount has to be paid by IIFL within 45 days. The order came after Sebi conducted multiple inspections of the books of account of IIFL, now known as IIFL Securities Ltd, for the period April 2011 to January 2017. (PTI) State-owned Oil India Ltd on Friday reported its highest-ever quarterly net profit in the three months to March as it got nearly $100 per barrel price for oil produced and sold. Net profit at Rs 1,630.01 crore in January-March was almost double of Rs 847.56 crore profit in the same period of last year, OIL Director (Finance) Harish Madhav told reporters here. (PTI) The Ministry of Power on Friday said it has modified norms for pass through of of higher cost of imported coal used by domestic thermal plants having power supply agreements with discoms under tariff-based bidding. The ministry, in a statement, said domestic coal-based power plants whose tariff have been determined under Section 63 of the Electricity Act have raised concern about the pass through of the increased cost in tariff if imported coal is used.
