(PTI) Jet fuel prices on Wednesday were cut by 1.3 per cent — the first reduction after 10 rounds of price hikes — on softening international crude oil rates. Simultaneously, prices of commercial LPG – used by business establishments such as hotels and restaurants – were reduced by Rs 135 per 19-kg cylinder. The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) — the fuel that helps aeroplanes fly — has been reduced by Rs 1,563.97 per kilolitre, or 1.27 per cent, to Rs 1,21,475.74 per kl (Rs 121 per litre) in the national capital, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.…

(PTI) GST revenues bucked the two-month rising trend in May and stood at nearly Rs 1.41 lakh crore, registering a year-on-year increase of 44 per cent. Although the May Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenues came in lower than the record high collection in April at Rs 1.68 lakh crore and Rs 1.42 lakh crore in March, it is still the fourth highest collection since the rollout of the new indirect tax regime on July 1, 2017. (FE) Commerce, industry and textiles minister Piyush Goyal has called for greater imports of cotton to tide over a domestic shortage in the short term. The import duty on cotton has been scrapped until December 31. (HT) India on Tuesday reported 2,338 fresh coronavirus infections, taking the total number of cases in the country to 4,31,58,087. A total of 19 deaths related to the virus was recorded in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union health ministry. On Monday, the country saw 2,706 new cases of Covid-19. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced a cut in excise duty on petrol by 8 per litre, and 6 rupees per litre on diesel earlier this month.
