Indian Railways has embarked upon an ambitious plan of electrification of its complete Broad Gauge network which would not only result in a better fuel energy usage resulting in increased throughput, reduced fuel expenditure but also savings in precious foreign exchange. During the FY 2022-23, till October 2022, Indian Railways has achieved 1223 Route Kilometers (RKMs) of electrification as compared to 895 RKMs during the corresponding period of FY 2021-22. (ET) The Department of Expenditure under the Finance Ministry on Monday released the eight monthly instalment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit (PDRD) grant of Rs 7,183.42 crore to fourteen states as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission. The commission recommended a total PDRD grant of Rs 86,201 crore to the fourteen states for the ongoing financial year. With the release of the eighth instalment for the month of November 2022, the total amount of revenue deficit  grants released to the states so far in FY23 has gone up to Rs 57,467.33 crore, Finance Ministry said in a statement.

(PTI) Russia has become India’s top oil supplier in October, surpassing traditional sellers Saudi Arabia and Iraq, according to data from energy cargo tracker Vortexa. Russia, which made up for just 0.2 per cent of all oil imported by India in the year to March 31, 2022, supplied 935,556 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to India in October — the highest ever. (ET) Bharat Petroleum Corp has spent two-thirds of its capital expenditure target for the ongoing fiscal year in the first half itself. While the refiner-retailer was the fastest to spend the planned capex among state-run oil companies, Oil & Natural Gas Corp and its overseas arm were among the slowest. State-run oil companies together spent ₹48,400 crore in the first six months of the current fiscal year, or 43% of their combined annual capex target of ₹111,354 crore, according to official data.
