(PTI) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday signed an agreement with the Speaker Gombojavyn Zandanshatar of the Great Khural of Mongolia to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. “I am hopeful that this visit will not only strengthen the existing bond between India and Mongolia but will also open new chapters of friendship between our two Parliaments and people,” Birla said wrapping up his three-day visit to Mongolia. (PTI) The Amarnath Yatra was suspended for the second consecutive day on Saturday following incessant rains and landslides, leaving thousands of pilgrims stranded in Jammu and at various places en route to the cave shrine. (PTI) The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has recommended to the Centre the names of seven judges for appointment as chief justice of seven high courts, including that of Bombay and Gujarat. The three-member collegium, also comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, made the recommendations on Wednesday and its resolutions were uploaded on the apex court website. It has recommended names for appointment as chief justices of the high courts of Bombay, Gujarat, Telangana, Kerala, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Manipur.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has achieved record-breaking performance in the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24 (Q1 FY24) in terms of production and sales. The production of hot metal, crude steel, and saleable steel of 5.037 million tonnes (MT), 4.667 MT, and 4.405 MT, respectively, marked the best ever first quarter results. These figures represent a remarkable growth of 7%, 8%, and 8% respectively in comparison to the previous best.
