The Tamil Nadu government has directed the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (TNSEIAA) to withdraw the clearance earlier granted to ONGC for hydrocarbon exploration in Ramanathapuram district. The decision comes in response to widespread protests and strong opposition from fishermen and political parties. Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has signed a performance-based Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, setting strategic targets for FY 2025-26. The MoU was signed at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, by Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE, and Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has terminated the contract of the toll collection agency and debarred it from participating in bids for one year after its staff misbehaved with army personnel at the Bhuni Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Karnal section of NH-709A on 17th August 2025.
