The Government of India has launched Special Campaign 5.0 from 15th September 2025, with a focus on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness) and disposing of pending matters. Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), the leading public sector steel producer and a Maharatna company, has supplied approximately 15,000 metric tons of high-quality steel products for the 51-kilometer Bairabi-Sairang railway project in Mizoram. This significant infrastructure project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on September 13, 2025. In a move to improve the quality of project execution, reduce delays, and bring down lifecycle costs of National Highway projects, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued clarifications to provisions of the Request for Proposal (RFP). These reforms aim to strengthen contractor qualification norms, enforce compliance during project execution, and enhance transparency in financial submissions. One of the most critical clarifications addresses the “Similar Work” criteria under bid qualification. Previously, contractors with experience in only minor or peripheral works misrepresented their credentials to qualify for large-scale highway projects.
