REC Limited has extended a loan of ₹ 4,785 crores to HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL), for setting up a green field refinery cum petrochemical complex in Barmer district, Rajasthan. The loan has been extended as part of a consortium arrangement for ₹ 48,625 crores, wherein the share of REC Limited is ₹ 4,785 crores. The refinery cum complex will have a capacity of 9 Million Metric Tonnes per Annum (MMTA), and would entail a total project cost of ₹ 72,937 crores. (ET) India imported a record volume of crude from Russia in June as the country nears the limit of its buying splurge from the major oil producer. Daily volumes climbed to 2.2 million barrels a day in June, rising for a 10th month, Viktor Katona, the head of crude analysis at Kpler told Bloomberg. According to the data from the analytics firm, Russian purchases once again exceeded the combined shipments of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. (PTI) Diesel sales dropped in June as the arrival of monsoon cut demand in the agri sector and reduced vehicular movement, preliminary industry data showed. Demand for diesel, the most consumed fuel in the country – accounting for about two-fifths of the total demand, fell 3.7% to 7.1 million tonnes in June compared to the year-ago period. Diesel sales soared 6.7% and 9.3% in April and May, respectively, as agriculture demand picked up and cars yanked up air-conditioning to beat summer heat.
