PTI United Spirits Ltd (USL), owned by British multinational alcoholic beverage company Diageo, on Tuesday said it has closed its over 200-year-old manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. The board of the company, which have brands including McDowell’s, Royal Challenge, Signature, Johnnie Walker, Black Dog in its fold, said it has closed the unit under its multi-year supply chain agility programme. The multi-year supply chain agility programme, approved by USL’s board in January this year, is focused on making the company “fit for the future”.

IANS The Petronet LNG board on Monday gave the go-ahead for a Rs 20,685 crore investment plan to set up a petrochemical plant at Dahej in Gujarat, where the company has a gas import terminal. The company’s CEO, Akshay Kumar Singh, said that the project will be ready in the next four years as it has already got the required statutory approvals. The plant will produce poly-propylene, propylene, propane, hydrogen and ethane. The project would also have the advantage of utilising ‘Cold Energy’ of PLL’s existing Dahej LNG terminal making this project energy-efficient, the company said in a regulatory filing.…
Money Control State-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have revised the prices of commercial 19kg LPG cylinders up to Rs 101.5 in the four metros with effect from November 1, 2023. After the revised rate, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 1,833 instead of Rs 1,731 in Delhi. In Mumbai, it will be available at Rs 1,785.50. CW India’s Essar Group has revealed its intentions to invest billions of dollars in low-carbon projects across Saudi Arabia, the UK, and India, marking a significant shift toward clean energy investments. The conglomerate, helmed by billionaire siblings Shashi and Ravi Ruia, anticipates obtaining final approvals by June to initiate investments totaling approximately $4 billion.
