PTI Capital markets regulator Sebi aims to introduce same-day settlement of trades on stock exchanges by March 2024 and eventually have real time settlement, its Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said on Saturday. Already, the watchdog reduced the settlement timelines to as short as one day. “Sebi wants the T plus zero (T+0) settlement norm to be in place from March-end 2024 and T plus instantaneous settlement 12 months from thereon,” Buch told reporters here after the regulator’s board meeting.

BQ Prime Measures introduced by the government to simplify and automate the taxation regime have raised the trust factor among taxpayers towards the Income Tax Department, according to a survey by CII. About 87% of the individual respondents and 89% of firms said that the process of claiming income tax refund was convenient, the Confederation of Indian Industry survey revealed. BS Central Depository Services on Wednesday said the number of demat accounts on its platform has crossed the 10-crore mark. Central Depository Services (India) Ltd, or CDSL, began operations in 1999 and facilitates holding and transacting in securities in the electronic form and settlement of trades on stock exchanges. In a statement, the depository announced “the crossing of another milestone as more than 10 crore demat accounts were registered with CDSL”.
