(ET) A 12-bank consortium led by State Bank of India has moved a Mumbai court seeking the release of Vijay Mallya’s assets that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached so that these can be sold “immediately” to realise the best value. The banks urged the court hearing the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case that the assets be restored to them so that they can “appropriate the proceeds” without delay, they said in a joint application. Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has recommended extending Tripathi’s term until his retirement, which is due in January 2020, sources said. (ET) Reliance Industries(RIL) Thursday said it would shut two units of its Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat for four weeks due to routine maintenance. The company is “planning to shut down one of the crude distillation units (CDUs) and coker unit of its domestic tarrif area (DTA) refinery at Jamnagar for routine maintenance and inspection activities for about four weeks starting from January 16, 2019,” it said in a filing to stock exchanges. Planned rationalisation of operations and examination of a total of 216 overseas operations of the public sector banks (PSBs) was undertaken last year, sources said.
