(PTI) State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC)is looking to set up an LPG bottling plant in Mizoram, beside supgrading 100 retail outlets across the Northeast in the next financial year, a senior official said. The company is currently in talks with the Mizoram government for setting up the bottling plant in the state,said G Ramesh, chief general manager of the IOC. The company would upgrade 100 retail outlets across the Northeast at an estimated cost of about Rs 50 crore in the next financial year, he added. IOC is also looking to commission at least nine retail outlets in Mizoram in the forthcoming fiscal, Ramesh said.

(PTI) The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country rose to 147 on Wednesday, with 10 fresh cases reported from various parts of the country, according to the Health Ministry. The cases include 25 foreign nationals and the three persons who died in Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Over 5,700 people, who had come in contact with these positive cases, are under rigorous surveillance, the Ministry said.Delhi has so far reported ten positive cases which includes one foreigner while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 16 cases, including one foreigner. (PTI) State-owned power major NTPC on Friday said its 250 mw unit of Barauni Thermal Power Station in Bihar will start commercial operation from March 1. In a regulatory filing, NTPC said the 250 megawatt (mw) unit of Barauni Thermal Power Station Stage-II (2 x 250 MW) is declared on commercial operation with effect from March 1, this year. With this, the commercial capacity NTPC and NTPC group will become 48,895 mw and 57,356 mw respectively, the filing said. Barauni Thermal Power Station (720 mw) is located at Begusarai district in Bihar.The plant comprise of Stage-I (2×110 mw) and Stage-II (2×250 MW), the government had said earlier.

(PTI) Fair trade regulator CCI on Monday said it has given nod to acquisition of government’s entire stake in THDC India and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) by state-owned NTPC Ltd. As part of transactions, NTPC will acquire 100 per cent of the issued and paid-up share capital of the NEEPCO and 74.5 per cent stake in THDC India, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) noted in separate releases. EESL has set the target to install 25 crore smart meters over the course of next few years.
