Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner, Rajasthan, to assess and strengthen security arrangements along the Indo-Pakistan border. The meeting focused on improving coordination between central agencies, the Rajasthan government, and local administrations to tackle border-related threats and ensure stronger surveillance in the region.

The meeting was attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, senior state officials, District Magistrates, and Superintendents of Police from five border districts — Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi.

During the review, Amit Shah emphasized that the Government of India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of border security. He called for the creation of a “360-degree security framework” for every border district, involving citizens, state authorities, and security agencies for comprehensive border management.

The Home Minister directed authorities to strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions, especially within 15 kilometres of the international border. He ordered immediate demolition of unauthorized structures in sensitive areas.

Shah also stressed the need for coordinated action by the Border Security Force (BSF), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), and state agencies to curb infiltration, drug smuggling, terror financing, encroachment, and other cross-border crimes.

District Magistrates were instructed to monitor mule bank accounts, shell companies, fake Aadhaar cards, and suspicious financial transactions. They were also asked to ensure legal compliance of banks and verify funding sources of major business establishments.

The meeting additionally focused on the effective implementation of the ‘1930’ cybercrime helpline and the three new criminal laws. Emphasis was also placed on the successful execution of Vibrant Village Programme-II to strengthen governance, improve infrastructure, and ensure complete implementation of government schemes in border villages.
