Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once again turned heads at the 79th Cannes Film Festival with a dramatic couture appearance that blended fashion, artistry, and cinematic glamour. Representing L’Oréal Paris on the global stage, the actor wore a custom-made abyss-blue gown titled Luminara, designed by Amit Aggarwal.
The sculptural couture piece stood out for its futuristic silhouette and striking wing-like shoulder details inspired by biomimicry. Crafted over nearly 1,500 hours, the gown featured intricate Crystal Vein embroidery with thousands of crystals hand-placed across the fabric, creating a shimmering effect under the Cannes lights. The ensemble reflected Aggarwal’s signature blend of innovation and structure while highlighting Aishwarya’s commanding red carpet presence.
Speaking about the collaboration, Amit Aggarwal shared that the look was envisioned as more than just a gown. Working alongside stylist Mohit Rai, the designer aimed to create an “energy field” around Aishwarya that symbolised strength, transformation, and radiance.
Complementing the couture outfit was a sophisticated beauty look inspired by a Royal Sapphire theme. Aishwarya opted for glowing skin, bold eyeliner, dramatic lashes, and soft waves that added elegance without overpowering the outfit. Her reddish-brown satin-finish lip colour added warmth and balance to the cool blue tones of the gown.
Over the years, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become one of Cannes’ most recognised Indian faces. Her 2026 appearance continued that legacy, proving once again why her red carpet moments remain among the festival’s most anticipated fashion highlights.
