The Lok Sabha on Thursday cleared the bill to regulate the appointment of top election officers in the Lok Sabha. The Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023, has already been passed by the Rajya Sabha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved three new criminal code bills for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, and they were subsequently passed. The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023 were passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The Centre also passed the Telecommunications Bill, 2023 in the Upper House. The bill seeks to amend and consolidate the law relating to the development, expansion and operation of telecommunication services and telecommunication networks; assignment of the spectrum; and matters connected therewith. It was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
